Mindfulness Instruction ~ Suggested Reading ~ Integral Resources
For Mindfulness Meditation: Many approaches to the practice of mindfulness can be found within the various schools of Buddhism, each emphasizing differing aspects of the basic practice. Each can
be useful in its own way. Here is information about where to learn some of the mindfulness methods particularly helpful in working with emotions, located in Colorado. For information in other U.S. cities or
worldwide, go to www.buddhanet.net. If you can't get to a mindfulness retreat center, a correspondence course is available through:

Selected Readings
For Schema Therapy: If you want to understand schemas in more detail and explore specific strategies for dealing with a given schema, I recommend Reinventing Your Life by
Jeffrey Young and Janet Klosko (Plume, 1993). For professionals providing therapy, I recommend the comprehensive treatment manual Schema Therapy by Jeffrey Young, Janet Klosko, and Marjorie
Weishaar, for the practice of schema therapy.
Those therapists who have been trained by Dr. Jeffrey Young and his associates are most experienced in schema therapy. The pool of those who practice schema therapy is becoming quite extensive as well as
international. To find out if there is a schema therapist in your area, you can go to www.schematherapy.com.
For Naikan Therapy: If you want to understand this form of Japanese psychotherapy and explore related constructivist living ideas, I recommend Naikan: Gratitude, Grace and the Japanese Art of
Self-Reflection by Gregg Krech. To explore Constructivist Living, you can go to www.todoinstitute.org.
For those interested in combining mindfulness with their therapy practice, I recommend Emotional Alchemy by Tara Bennett-Goleman -- www.emotionalalchemy.com.
Three books that I love to read and re-read for spiritual inspiration, Walking on Lotus Flowers, by Martine Batchelor; Women in Search of the Sacred by Anne Bancroft; and Weavers of Wisdom: Women Mystics of
the 20th Century by Anne Bancroft.
A truly significant book written by a genuinely enlightened being whose message needs to be desperately heard in our world today, Talks with Ramana Maharshi, by Ramana Maharshi (2001).
